American Born Players of the Night, Thursday (4/7/11)

I usually only select NHL players for this, however, I have to give the first star of the night to goaltender Shawn Hunwick for his solid performance in net last night in the Frozen Four. Hunwick (Sterling Heights, MI) of the University of Michigan made 40 saves (15 in the 3rd period) to secure a shutout victory over a high powered North Dakota team sending Michigan to the Final to take on Minnesota-Duluth.

The 26 year-old Ryan Kesler (Livonia , MI) netted his 3rd hat trick of the season and raised his season goal total to 40 in a Vancouver Canucks 5-0 win over the struggling Minnesota Wild.

Craig Anderson (Park Ridge, IL) continued to show Ottawa they made a great choice in acquiring him, by saving 27 out of 29 shots (0.931 SV%) to help lead the Senators to a 3-2 overtime victory over the Montreal Canadiens.
